After the first 12-month guarantee period, if the tenancy continues, coverage renews automatically in further 6-month continuation periods, so it doesn't lapse. The Student Guarantor sends a notice before any continuation fee is collected, confirming the amount, collection date, and how to decline if the student does not want to continue. A pro-rated refund can be requested if the continuation period is not used in full.
